synopsis

Giardinosofia is a collective performative practice that intertwines art, architecture, and community, aimed at redefining urban spaces through a participatory artistic experience.

The project draws inspiration from the reading and analysis of the book GIARDINOSOFIA by Santiago Beruete, particularly from the idea that "humanity has always reflected itself in the garden. From time to time, the architecture of greenery—like built architecture—has embodied ideals, [...] utopias, fulfilled desires, and confronted fears. [...] In gardens, humans have also found an interlocutor capable like no other of challenging them and offering new opportunities: nature, a mystery to explore and at the same time a source of pleasure".

Riccardo De Simone and Laura Cossignani, starting from a research project on the relationship between body, space, and the structural and theoretical elements of the garden, engage the community in a process of discovery and reinterpretation of urban and unconventional spaces to be recreated and revisited through a practice of shared actions.

In this sense, the garden becomes an aesthetic pretext to develop practices of sensitive listening toward collective-use spaces, fostering the creation of new relationships between these places and the communities that inhabit them.

The practice is inspired by the graphic game of connecting the dots, commonly found in puzzle magazines. The pencil line is replaced by long, thin strips of fabric that, acting as a graphic medium, allow for the drawing of paths and trajectories, revealing new architectural forms and imagined possibilities.

The performative result becomes a ritual of shared actions, paced by the appearance and dissolution of ever-changing installations generated by the architectural and poetic relationships between bodies and fabric strips.

Each chosen landscape will reflect different and transitory projections of the garden, leaving behind only traces and ephemeral memories, while also becoming an echo of future possible actions within the collective territory.

In the garden, those who waste time gain space.
