Angry Butterfly is an emblematic pop character, obsessed with the pursuit of approval.
Its glossy smile is kaleidoscopic, reflecting a society where identity is manipulated and transformed to fit media-driven expectations.
The multidisciplinary nature of the project explores the overlap between a pop singer and a jockey—both reliant on external entities (audience and horse). This parallel evokes the imagery of a young rider dominating wild horses, symbolizing a pop identity bound to its audience in a relationship of mutual dependence.
Through a contemporary lens saturated with images and visual stimuli, Angry Butterfly is a performance that wears the layered masks of a performative society. It speaks to the constant need to live up to a role, to seemingly invincible creatures, and to attempts to reclaim the essence of one's own image.
